> Stroke

Community Health Charities, in partnership with member charity National Stroke Association, wants to bring attention to the occurrence of strokes, the importance of knowing the signs and symptoms and the many resources available.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States, but up to 80% of strokes can be prevented. Stroke is also a leading cause of serious long-term disability. Although most strokes occur in people age 65 years or older, strokes can occur at any age.

He has been married for nine years and has a son, Kyle, who is two years old. He has always had something of a travel bug, and it was this desire to see the world that inspired Thompson to join the Army. That, and the stories he heard from his college roommate -- an older student who had served in the Vietnam War.
